Pink Ribbon

Wester2

Pink Ribbon is a campaign by Estée Lauder to raise awareness for breast cancer. Their symbol has an outstanding international recognition. The month of October is especially chosen to draw attention to this cause. "Pink Energy" was the theme for this year's Estée Lauder Pink Ribbon Award and professional and amateur photographers competed for the prize. A gala and award ceremony to hand out the prize took place last Wednesday in Amsterdam. Josée van Attekum was the proud winner with her photograph 'Immaterial'. Setting a landmark in a pink spotlight is a project of the 'Global Landmark Illumination Initiative' and throughout the month of October, around the world, famous buildings will be bathing in pink rays of light in an attempt to set a world record. In Amsterdam, this honor goes to the Westerkerk! We keep our finger crossed so it will work! The Estée Lauder campaign for breast cancer awareness reached international recognition thanks to their famous symbol - the pink ribbon. From a taboo topic to increased awareness, Estée Lauder have done a wonderful job.
