A special gift from Peru
Last September Simone visited a special project in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru. Her heart was touched by the loving and dedicated work of Helena van Engelen, founder of Fundacion Niños del Arco Iris.
The Kuychi foundation was created in 2003 to Support Niños del Arco Iris. Helena van Engelen changed the course of her life by putting it to the service of the forgotten children of Peru. At the end of 2001 she went to Urubamba to build a center in the Valley of the Saints near Cusco where children from the surrounding poor communities can live and learn. The central point of her mission is to give these children a home and a future. The name of both foundations, Arco Iris and Kuychi refers to Arco Iris in Spanish and Kuychi in Quechua, the ancient Indian language still spoken in the Andes. The project wants to offer a future to deprived children who are exposed to many risks as a result of extreme poverty.
LaDress decided to contribute by raising awareness, supporting local craftsmanship and helping the little kids by donating new school uniforms. We created colorful dresses in the beautiful palette of Peru. If you buy two dresses we will treat you to an artisanal Peruvian gift.
