New inspiring female: Candace Bushnell

The woman who gave us Carrie, Candace Bushnell, moved to her beloved New York aged 19, to attend Rice University and New York University. She began her career then and there, when she wrote a children's book for Simon & Schuster. In her early twenties she developed her typical darkly humoristic style while writing as a freelancer for Mademoiselle, Self Magazine and Esquire.

In November 1994 she created the column Sex and the City for the New York Observer. It ran for two years, before it was made in to what we all know as the hugely successful series and movie.

Other fabulous books and series by Candace are Lipstick Jungle, Four Blondes, Trading Up and the new book The Carrie Dairies, which is Carrie's coming-of-age story.

With her stories filled with friendship, glamour, scandal and humor, Candace has conquered the world and affected our views what it takes to be a friend, lover and happy human being.

'Sex and the City II: Carrie on' is now in theaters. What, you haven't seen it yet?
